In this conversation, Chere Estrin, Chris Wilson, and Lynda Stevens discuss the innovative approach of Fenimore Forward, a new model for law firms that emphasizes remote work and support for attorneys. They explore the differences in management, compensation structures, and the entrepreneurial mindset required for success in this evolving legal landscape. In this conversation, Chris Wilson discusses the innovative Fennimore Forward program, which offers attorneys flexibility and control over their practice without the traditional overhead costs associated with law firms.

The legal profession is a rewarding career path. But let’s face it: for some, it has limits. You’re not likely to make partner unless you’re already on that trajectory. Moving up the career ladder as a legal professional is often difficult. And yes, there are salary caps for many roles. But what if you could zig and zag, leveraging your background into something new? You may have to leave the title “attorney” or “legal professional” behind—or maybe not. It depends on how you approach it.
Ah, small talk. That delightful social ritual where you skillfully navigate through the weather, weekend plans, or the universally beloved “How’s your day going?” It's like conversational popcorn—light, seemingly inconsequential, but sneakily satisfying. Yet, beneath its humble exterior lies a secret superpower: small talk can transform your career faster than you can say, “So, how about this traffic?”
An Interview with Husacar Matos
How did you work your way up to becoming a manager and now one of the few Paralegal Directors in the country?

I believe my journey to the Director level is a testament to my ability to seize every opportunity that came my way and to build on each experience continuously.

"The four-hour interview with ***** was intense, to say the least. While I can understand the need for thoroughness during interviews, the experience crossed into uncomfortable territory for me. At one point, the partner explicitly told me to “stop talking and listen,” as if I were a child, which felt highly disrespectful. Her interview approach came across more as an interrogation than a constructive discussion, leaving me feeling professionally diminished. "

However, five paralegals (among many) recently stood out for their excellent contributions to the paralegal world. Take a look at their incredible achievements!
